A beta read is best done after major structural edits, and before copy & line editing.

COPY & LINE COMBO EDIT
A copy and line edit is the magic combo!
It focuses on coherence, clarity, and consistency throughout the manuscript. It looks closely at grammar, sentence structure, punctuation, vocabulary, word choice, POV/tense, and readability.
A copy & line edit is best done after all structural and developmental edits have been made.

Two editing passes, with the choice of a collaborative or traditional edit model.

PROOFREADING
Pricing:

Proofreading is the final stage in the editing process, and polishes the finer details of your story.
A proofread catches any typos, spelling and grammar errors, and formatting issues that may have snuck into the final copy.
A manuscript is ready for a proofread when it has undergone all major edits (which might include developmental edits, copy & line edits, alpha/beta readers).
A proofread is not to edit sentence structure, word choice, or phrasing (but if you need this, a copy & line combo might be for you!)

Generative AI
Phoenix Rising has a strict anti-generative AI policy
All prices are in AUD. A 10% deposit is required to secure a booking.
Return clients receive a 5% discount on all editing services.
A sample edit is required for all new authors (free of charge).

Genres: Most genres of romance: fantasy romance, romantasy, paranormal, omegaverse, monster/sci-fi, dark romance, contemporary.
SKILLSET AND EXPERIENCE
I have a Certificate of Editing and Proofreading, along with multiple degrees, and 8+ years of experience in teaching reading and writing. I believe learning is a lifelong process, and as such, I will actively continue to develop my professional knowledge and skills.
I have experience in all three forms of editing currently offered. I strive to always support the author in staying true to their writing style. I have a keen eye for detail and strive to provide a thorough service to the best of my ability.
